FAQs
Is It Safe To Travel To Lebanon?
The security situation in Lebanon has somewhat stabilized as of 2025. Of course, there are risks involved with traveling in Lebanon given the implications of the greater regions, but we work with an experienced team who carefully mitigates the risks.
Where are the Start & End Points on this Expedition?
This 10 day Lebanon expedition is slated to begin from and end in Beirut, Lebanon. Those who will be joining us on the preceding Syria Expedition will have overland transport from Damascus to Beirut included in the trip cost.
What are the Entry Requirements for Lebanon?
Many passport holders from the Americas, Europe, and Asia may enter Lebanon with a free visa on arrival. If you do hold a passport requiring a visa, let us know so that necessary documentation can be procured for visa application.
Do note that Israeli passport holders are barred from entry to Lebanon, as well as anyone with evidence of visiting Israel in their passport.
Do I Need Travel Insurance To Join A Lebanon Expedition?
To join any Safar Expeditions departure you will need to carry an active travel insurance plan. It is recommended to select an insurance plan that covers both medical care and evacuation/repatriation.
We recommend using IATI travel insurance for coverage.
What Currency Is Used In Lebanon & How Can I Pay For Things On The Ground?
Officially, the Lebanese Pound is the currency, however, the USD is widely accept for most purchases due to a highly volatile fluctuation in value of Lebanese Pounds.
It is advisable to carry in any cash you would like to use for personal spending, souvenirs, etc.
Is There A Packing List & Prep Guide?
Yes, we will provide a recommended packing list.
What Is The Food Like & Can You Accommodate Dietary Restrictions?
Lebanon is a foodie paradise with a delicious and flavorful cuisine. Accommodating dietary restrictions is no problem, just let us know in advance.
What Is The Dress Code?
Lebanese dress is liberal for a country in the Middle East. In the cities, you will see people wearing the latest fashions popular in Europe as well as people wearing conservative, religious attire.
Plan to bring outfits that are comfortable to sightsee all day in. In early May, temperatures are warming up but still comfortable. Loose and breathable fabrics are generally the best. Evenings can get a little cool, so a jumper or jacket would be wise.
We do visit some mosques as part of the itinerary, so for female travelers having a scarf handy is wise.
Will I Have Internet Access?
Yes, most of our accommodations provide wi-fi. It is also possible to get a SIM card in Lebanon.
Are There Any Restrictions On Who Can Visit Lebanon?
Lebanon forbids all Israeli nationals, people born in Israel, and any traveler with proof of travel to Israel in their passports (including border stamps from Egypt and Jordan) from entering the country.
Is There a Minimum Number of Participants Necessary for the Expedition to Run?
Yes, a minimum of 4 passengers will need to be on this expedition in order to run. If the minimum isn't reached, we will contact you about the potential to still operate the trip but at an additional charge or you will be given the option to cancel and your deposit/payment can either be returned to you or applied toward a different expedition of your choosing.
